Peer Networks Programme
The Peer Networks programme enables local businesses to join forces in a non-competitive environment and use their shared experience to overcome any challenges, find new sales opportunities and expand their networks. To be eligible businesses must have been trading for over 1 year, have at least 5 employees, a turnover of at least £100,000 and not previously taken part in the programme.
The Peer Networks sessions will be run by experienced facilitators who will keep each session on track and will be able to provide any relevant information such as contact details or updates on related support opportunities from the Black Country LEP Growth Hub and its local and national partners. Places on this programme are fully funded by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) but they are limited, so please submit your information soon.
Made Smarter in the Black Country
The possibilities are endless with digital tech. Whatever problem you’re facing, or whatever goal you’re working towards, Made Smarter can find a smarter solution. Made Smarter strive to unite established and emerging UK technology innovators with the manufacturing community to deliver cutting-edge solutions to the industry's biggest operational challenges.
At its core Made Smarter will be helping local manufacturing businesses to innovate, creating new opportunities and technologies in the process. It’s a hugely exciting time and I believe this is truly a once in a generational opportunity to boost productivity and create the high value, highly paid jobs of the future.
Help to Grow Scheme
The government’s new Help to Grow: Management programme offers the chance to take your business to the next level. You can join other business leaders in a practical management training programme, with 1-1 mentorship. This will be delivered by leading business schools accredited by the Small Business Charter.
The 12-week programme costs just £750 and is 90% subsidised by the government as part of its Plan for Jobs to help businesses to drive growth and create jobs. It is aimed at senior leaders of small and medium businesses.
Experts in Residence
The EiR programme was created after the Black Country LEP Growth Hub recognised a gap in business support for post-start and micro-businesses who fall outside of the usual SME support. The programme aims to fill this gap and offers business mentoring from a select group of experienced business experts.
Businesses will be matched to a relevant expert who will help them with growth, resilience, forward planning and more.
The Kickstart Scheme provides funding to create new 6-month jobs for 16 to 24 year olds on Universal Credit who are at risk of long term unemployment.
The Department for Work and Pensions are running a series of webinars to introduce employers to the benefits of the Kickstart Scheme. Following an overview of the scheme, there will be an opportunity to ask questions. Webinars will be held weekly on Microsoft Teams. To attend, register for free on eventbrite.
